UK Children's Art Competition Supporters

Ken Loach. Film Director

"The terrible events in Lidice and the work of Barnett Stross should certainly be remembered. It is a story of mutual support and international solidarity among ordinary people. I’m sure the art competition will be a great success. It deserves to be. Best wishes to everyone who takes part in the competition."

Nick Hancock. TV Celebrity

The rebirth of Lidice is certainly one to be celebrated. The "story" of Lidice and the images of its destruction place into context the achievements of people like Sir. Barnett Stross and ordinary working people. By entering the competition children remember these efforts and kick racism into touch

Peter Smith - UK Artist

The horrendous events that the people of Lidice suffered, the Barnett Stross campaign to rebuild this shattered community and the international unity that helped make Lidice what it is today is a humbling story. I offer my support to the UK Children’s Fine Art Competition in the same unselfish manner shown by ordinary people in times of great need. The UK Children’s Fine Art Competition is a chance to join hands across the world, keep the memory of the events in Lidice alive and make sure that such atrocities will never happen again.

Gerald Scarfe

To all children who love art – keep on drawing, keep on painting. It’s good for your soul.
